A good start

I’ve been searching for an app just like this. So far, I really like it, but it could use one or two touches to make it better organized and more usable. For one, it would be nice to have a keyboard toggle to turn the highlighter on and off, instead of having to click in the toolbar, then click the “turn on” button, then highlight, and turn it off again.

Second, and perhaps more importantly, I assume your data is being saved locally, but there is no way of reviewing what I have highlighted. Over time, I assume, all of this data will build up and there is no way to know how many highlights you’ve made, or to remove ones from pages you haven’t visited in a long time and have forgotten about. I’m not sure how this would work exactly. Maybe a local page that lists the highlights?

Other highlighter extensions are using a subscription model, and your highlights are sent to their servers. I hate that. That is exactly the reason that I LIKE Highlighter for Safari. I want my highlights kept locally. But I’d like to be able to see how many I have, and to be able to search them and delete them without having to remember where they are.
