Learn to read Japanese Hiragana and Katakana characters in a fun chip-tune adventure! Not just for people who want to learn Japanese, this is a game anyone can enjoy.

Progress through six different worlds remembering patterns and tapping in time to an all original catchy soundtrack. Learn how to recognize the shapes and sounds of each character in the Hiragana and Katakana alphabets. Learn them all and be able to easily read and pronounce Japanese words!

Best kana app on the app store

At first this game might seem a bit shallow. In all honesty, for an attractive game designed by a pro games company, its gameplay is simplistic. However, it is leaps and bounds above the competition and in my opinion quite simply the best app for learning kana available. The music is stellar, the controls responsive, and the game starts slowly but gets just the right amount of demanding. Obviously I cannot argue with its price, either... But I do wish for some inapp purchase options, namely: a set(s) of kanji to learn, more songs, alternate japanese voices, the ability to customize the lessons, focus on trouble areas or skip ahead, and perhaps most importantly, more granular volume controls. I can be a harsh critic but it's because I really relied on this great tool and could use more, more, more!
