Impressive, but with some caveats

My handwriting is terrible, but Nebo manages to figure out what I’m writing most of the time. I’ve written whole papers with this, and it’s held up pretty well so far!

It does struggle, whoever, with certain characters: bracketed numbers — e.g. “(101)” — are repeatedly (and annoyingly) misinterpreted. Also, other forms of punctuation which I use for Markdown can be awkwardly spaced out (e.g. “*hello*” might turn into “* hello *”, and “testing - now” might be rendered as “testing- now”).

The support for bullet points is disappointingly rudimentary. It would be amazing to be able to create complex bullet point outlines, but the app doesn’t support indented bullet points yet.

Finally, it would be a dream to be able to write and export text in Markdown. Hopefully this is in the pipeline!

(Lastly, for real: it would be great if we could paste in blocks of typed text — e.g. a copied quote from another app. It feels a little punitive to be exclusively limited to hand-writing text, even though that’s the primary input method. If we can insert images, it only feels right that we should be able to insert typed text.)

Hello, thanks to your feedback, we released a lot of new exciting features in Nebo 2.6! One of the top three features requested by our users was enhanced handling of *lists and indents*. Now the app detects multi-level lists automatically. You can create bulleted and numbered lists, and the new indentation options work with regular text as well as list items. We hope you'll enjoy it! Text recognition is great, that’s no doubt.

I considered choosing between Notability and Nebo, finally i got Nebo to have a try. I’m surprised the handwriting recognition is so great even my bad handwriting can convert to correct text, that’s a great job.

However, i was not able to writing/ sketch freely anywhere in the note, i guess maybe because of keeping this function works properly. Yes, there’s a sketch tool to set a sketch area and draw something, or even draw some diagrams, but that’s not so intuitive for me, in my opinion. This is one of the features that i think Notability works better.

The next feature i think is missing is the ability to markup something, especially between texts, images and diagrams. That’s a pain if you have something in a note, and you want to point out somewhere in an image and draw an arrow to some texts somewhere else.

One more thing, i’m not sure why can’t i revert the converted text to handwriting without using undo function; or duplicate a note that i may want to keep a handwriting copy. Sometimes i may just want to share something written in text form but want my handwriting keeping.

Feature request(it’s seems greedy but i really want this app be my only app for journaling purpose):

1. Free writing/ drawing note, or at least we can create a free writing/ drawing note without handwriting recognition;
2. Markup function on note freely;
3. Drag and drop image/ pdf from other apps;
4. Hyperlinks;
5. Side-by-side notes

Please note that joining our Insider program you can test Beta features. Currently, our Nebo Insiders can test the Draft feature allowing them to take unstructured notes, make sketches on the fly while being able to integrate this content in structured notes later.

Loved it loved it loved it! I hope I found the app sooner! This app let me use any notebook and also prepare quizzes with an AI helping this really helpful to me and also save me some time for not asking my parents to prepare a quiz for me. That’s amazing! and other app doesn’t have AI and also will force me to pay for opening another notebook which are really disappointing but this app don’t and it’s really helpful so I’m glad that I found the app and I’m using it is really good.!
