Description

Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.

• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.

• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 40 people.

• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.

• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.

• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.

• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

• Now you can react with any emoji during a Signal call. Smile even if your camera is off, share a heart if you love what you're hearing, or vote for sushi instead of pizza without saying a word. And you'll even see an animation of everyone's emojional outburst if enough people in the call react with the same emoji all at once.

Love using Signal!

Thank you Signal team for constantly improving our user experience, I really appreciate your hard work - the app has come so far since i’ve started using it! I love the privacy that comes with using Signal, though i would love to see a few new key features added in the future: 1. previously shared links 2. previously shared documents 3. starred messages, 4. more accurate search function, 5. more ways for users to support you, 6. better call quality. I do think the call and video features aren’t the main reasons users use the app, that’s why I placed them at the bottom of my list. Hope my comment is helpful for your team. Please stay awesome!

Never use Signal again, lost all data after transfer to a new phone

I transferred to iPhone XR to a brand new iPhone 15. I made sure both iOS and Signal are up to date before the transfer. I saw other people had the same issue and the bug is not fixed. STOP developing new features until you properly fix the bug!!!
On iPhone 15, I could open the Signal App at first so that I could initiate the transfer.
BUT after the transferred finished, I simply can’t open the Signal app anymore on the new phone. And I can’t access to old phone because the arrogant Signal developers thought it is a genius idea to skip a confirmation for a successful transfer before they delete the history on the old phone.
To the arrogant and incompetent Signal developers, I lost all my data in the last 4 years, including my sweet memory with my wife and my wedding, and honeymoon. You should be ashamed of yourself by being arrogant and ignorant by “designing” such UNRELIABLE data transfer and leaving no backup plan. You promised secure and reliable communication but you fail miserably. It’s my data and I own the data, but you lost all my data by your “secure” design. It is the worse thing I have ever experienced so far.

Love this app, hope more features and improvements in future

I love signal, and the mission it’s set to keep privacy the utmost importance factor.
But some features are really lacking and I hope they can be added soon.
For example, being able to PIN/BOOKMARK/STAR, or whatever you call it, a message is really important, sometimes there’s some important messages that we would like to go back to, but they can be really dated, and it’s simply either impossible to find - scrolling through thousands of messages, or even a keyword is too difficult to locate it.
That said, I love the new update with support for Cantonese language, my mother tongue!
