RideView Companion is a versatile and powerful tool for a driver or installer to interact with dash cams powered by the RideView video telematics platform. It automatically senses and connects to dash cams in its vicinity to help with:

- Installing dash cams by observing the preview from road and driver-facing cameras
- Viewing incidents and scorecards, improvement in their performance over time, and other analytics
- Completing coaching sessions by reviewing videos shortlisted by fleet managers for review
- Disputing incidents where you were not at fault
- Accessing critical device diagnostics when troubleshooting dash cam issues in the field
- Set the APN for the SIM
- Obtain driver consent to record audio in the dash cam
- Enrol images for face recognition. The face crop images submitted are for associating the driver’s face to his/her login/driverId. The driver is expected to let the dash cam know as to who will be driving the vehicle before the start of the trip. RideView platform compares the enrolled images (collected through the app) and the images obtained from the dash cam during the actual drive/trip. The objective is to be able to recognize and verify that the person driving the vehicle is indeed the person corresponding to the driverId.

Versión 1.8.0

Added support to request the DVR video locally from the connected dash cam with following steps:
- Choose the new option added in Dash Cam tile to request video
- Select a trip and stream to locate the potion of interest
- Choose video duration (30 sec, 1 min, 2min or 3 min)
- Choose video format (Road, Driver, Side-by-side or Picture-in-picture)
- Choose video resolution (320x180, 640x360, or 1280x720)
- Stay connected until the dash cam generates requested video and transfers it to the App.
Saved videos can be accessed directly from the Home Screen without connecting to the dash cam.

Other updates include:
- Updated the driver camera guidelines to support seatbelt detection
- Showing default driver in Dash Cam Information screen
