However, Leonardo's workshop is full of puzzles, inventions, escape mechanisms and objects hidden in all corners of beautifully decorated rooms. We’ve applied our own imagination to the story of the world’s greatest inventor, Leonardo da Vinci, providing players with unique special abilities throughout gameplay. We allow you to warp back into your early days as a young apprentice, exploring the 16th century world around you, peeking into Leonardo’s mechanisms, puzzles and devices, as you eventually become powerful enough to control time itself and learn the secrets hidden in the past.

Many challenging puzzles are inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's real inventions and ideas. Mysterious locations were created based on original artworks and the wonderful Florence, Italy of 1506.

Too short

Great game ... too short

Considering this is a direct ripoff of The Room series, it makes sense to directly compare them. Da Vinci feels less intuitive, more clunky and altogether uninspired compared to what The Room series offers.

I had to constantly use the hint system simply because the contextual and visual clues aren’t enough. Areas which you would be expect to be able to zoom into can’t be zoomed into despite there being manipulable objects; areas which you would never consider to explore because they are unhighlighted or unremarkable in any way are meant to be explored; standalone puzzle segments often have you zipping back and forth *constantly* instead of requiring it only as an opening of finishing sequence. You never know where you’re supposed to explore next or when you’re finished exploring.

In The Room, I would receive a new object, inspect it and go “Oh, I know where this goes!” while here I would often think “Better examine everything I’ve seen so far, or wait for the hint to pop up.” This isn’t a “harder” game; this is bad game design.

I deleted the game after getting to the astrology/tower level, which I assume is near the end of the game. What does it say about a game if you decide you’re not interested enough even when you’re so near the end?

I decided to give it another go and, this time, and I deleted it much earlier in the siege tower level. I absolutely cannot put down any of The Room series games, just for comparison.

I won’t rate it because I haven’t finished it, but unfortunately the app store requires it in order to publish a review. 2/5 because the artwork is great and so is the sound design.

EDIT: Finally finished the game. Atrociously intuitive last level; 2/5 stars still stands strong.

Developer Response ,

Hi there. Thanks for your review - please, if you have any problems with particular puzzle, don't hesitate to contact us via davinci@bluebraingames.com. In most cases, it's not a bug or a glitch, rather than misunderstanding of the puzzle mechanism. Have a great day!
