Bows at the ready for Archero.

Archero

Hit and Run, Win Win Win!

View

Think of the most famous archers. Robin Hood? William Tell? That guy Arrow from the TV show? All pale in comparison to the hero of Archero.

With the on-screen joystick you pilot a plucky archer and face down waves of evil creatures. You only need one thumb to play Archero, as the archer will auto-aim and fire when standing still.

The catch is that he can’t shoot while he’s running, so you have to skilfully sprint around enemies and their attacks, picking when to stop and take down all the snakes, rock monsters and pirate skeletons.

There’s a joke about apples in this, but we’re just not hitting the mark.

Every 10th level is a boss, and they’re a bit more of a challenge. Watch out, because when you die, your only choice is to start again from the beginning, and each try costs you energy (though it recharges over time).

Luckily, as you run through the different dungeons, you get new weapons and gear to level up, as well as a host of cool abilities like bouncing arrows, lightning attacks or magic poisoned swords to protect you.

This hit-and-run action game is perfect for busy commutes and quick downtime alike, and will keep you coming back to try to reach that final boss one more time…
