GAMES ARE ART
The beauty of Oddmar
Tap to find out more about this visually spectacular game.
The spectacular new game Oddmar plays like a dream – and it looks like one too.
There are ambient sunbeams, fluttering butterflies, plants and trees that sway realistically in the wind.
All of the hand-drawn levels feature multiple layers of parallax and depth-of-field blurring. You don’t often see 2D visuals with this level of detail and artistry.
Oddmar’s cinematic soundtrack – more than 90 minutes of original music – adds as much to the atmosphere as all those pretty pixels.
The composition leans on the nyckelharpa, an archaic 15-century Swedish instrument, whose resonator strings and wooden keys set a unique tone.
Oddmar is a result of four years of toil by a development studio that refused to settle.
We could go on. But you don’t need to see any more clips of the game in action. This is one you need to play to appreciate.
