Luminos (not pro) user
The old app was a one time purchase. For previous owners this could have been a paid upgrade without a subscription (like pay 2 years worth of subscription and it is yours)…
But no, this is subscription based app same price as SkySafari7 which is one time purchase for the given version and they usually release a new one every 3-5 years. So this one is 3-5x more expensive (They have subscriptions but it’s not limiting usability. Personal data export, visibility data, light pollution… all these can be found outside of the app for free if you wish)
This is a middle finger for previous (not pro) users. I get it developers need to earn money, but they should honor the previous app owners. If no one would bought the old one…

Thanks for your honest feedback, and I genuinely understand your concerns. As the sole developer behind this app, it's been a labor of love for over 12 years. I've always valued providing updates and support for the previous version at no additional cost, and I plan to keep it that way. I made an update to Luminos 9 a few weeks ago and you can find that update by going to App Store > Account > Purchased apps and searching for Luminos (the list is sorted by date so it's hard to find an app by scrolling).
The new subscription model was introduced to allow for even more robust enhancements and support, but I completely get that it may not suit everyone's preferences.
That's why I'm pleased to let you know I'll be introducing a single-purchase option in the next update of Luminos Pro. It's my aim to give users like you a choice in how you want to support the app, and I hope this will offer the flexibility you're looking for.
