NOT BERLIN AIR 4+

The AR art project "NOT BERLIN AIR" by Hoffmann & Skakun for 48 Hours Neukölln 2021 in Berlin refers to the festival theme "Air".

Simply install the iOS app “NOT BERLIN AIR”. After activating the camera, simply touch and drag on your camera image to start the performance. Make sure that “NOT BERLIN AIR” can recognize flat surfaces and that the scene is sufficiently illuminated to position the installation.

About the project:
In an era of scarcity of pure and clean air, Hoffmann & Skakun produce their own and let them float in oversized glass ampoules in front of and above the heads of the beholder. The ampoule of Duchamp's ready-made “50cc air de Paris” becomes a Calder mobile in a serial multiplication. Always in motion, as if gently pushed by an imaginary breeze, the bottle-like vessels give the appearance of a dance or the staging of a ballet piece. Its transparency and fragility, the play of inside and outside, of reality and fiction and then reality again acts as a bridge for viewers and virtual reality.

But with "NOT BERLIN AIR" ("THAT'S NOT THE BERLIN AIR AIR") is not only intended to provide a visual experience.

Via the iOS devices of the festival goers experienced and integrated into the real world, the vibrations sound like a canon, which could be reminiscent of the well-known and title-related composition from the opera "Frau Luna". However, this soundtrack is a counterpoint to the well-known hit song.
