Description

Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.

• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.

• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 40 people.

• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.

• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.

• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.

• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

What’s New

Version 7.9

• We told ourselves that we would never do this, that we wouldn't be like the other apps with their lazy release notes, but this update really does include "bug fixes and performance improvements."

My only messaging app

Update: Story feature made optional 🙏 -> 5*

I’m a big fan, early adopter and financial supporter of signal. This is the only messaging app I use. I don’t mind if you are experimenting with new feature beyond basic messaging, but please don’t be so pushy about it. This new story feature doesn’t make any sense to me, it’s like facebook. I don’t even get the use case why I would broadcast photos to all my contacts? This is the opposite of privacy. Please remove this new tab that takes the bottom part of the screen and keep it as an optional feature for those who need it. Great app otherwise, I just love it.

Cool

Everything works fine, really good privacy, but some animations when sending a message would be really good, like in iMessage or WhatsApp, so it would be a much smoother experience to sending messages. And changing the message colors in conversations would be nice too.

It is far from perfect

Dear developers, I can not make audio or video calls, when I get a voice message it doesn’t play back, when I press the play button it shows like it is playing but I don’t hear anything, however the voice record can play back on the phone on which was created. I’m sure you are going to fix it, I like the idea of privacy, I will keep using the app in a hope that we will get a bug fix update soon.
