Spin the Virtual Globe to pinpoint cities and towns where relatives have lived – and migrated between – over the decades. Or use the Person View to remember individuals by browsing immigration documents, job histories, awards and other ephemera.

Want something more personal? MacFamilyTree turns dates and data into a written narrative. (Just go to the Reports section and click Narrative.) Got a box full of photos or documents in the attic? Use the app’s machine-learning tools to scan, enhance and colourise them.

Record major life moments, cute baby pics and details such as eye colour and blood type.
