BladderSafe includes a decision tree based on published research regarding the appropriate use of urinary catheters for a variety of medical and surgical situations. This research was completed by the Patient Safety Enhancement Program team at the University of Michigan. The app includes guidelines for evidence-based practices from the Ann Arbor Criteria (DOI:10.7326/M14-1304) and the Michigan Appropriate Perioperative Criteria (DOI:10.1136/bmjqs-2018-008025).
