JPT（日本語能力試験）は、日本語を母国語としない日本語学習者を対象として1985年に開発され、これまでに350回以上実施されています。
日本で就学、就業するうえで必要となる、コミュニケーション能力を客観的に測定、評価することを目的としており、法務省出入国在留管理庁において日本語教育機関へ入学する資格※として認められています。
