Looking for an exciting challenge to take on with friends? Say hello to Duolingo’s Friends Quest feature. Study alongside your favourite people and depend on each other as you work towards a common goal – even if you’re not learning the same language. Here’s how to get started.
Add your friends
It’s easy! Connect with your friends on your profile page by sharing invitation links. Pro tip: The more friends you have – you need to follow them and they need to follow you back – the higher chance you have of entering Friends Quests. To check if you’re eligible, tap the chest icon at the bottom of the page, then scroll down to the Friends Quest section.
Complete your quest
Every week, you’ll be automatically paired with a Friends Quest partner, provided you’ve completed at least one lesson. Once you have a partner, you can work together to complete the week’s challenge, which can vary from hitting a number of perfect lessons to reaching a certain XP goal together. Each member’s individual progress contributes to the overall success of the quest.
Get your rewards
If you manage to complete the Friends Quest before your time runs out, you’ll both receive special rewards such as an XP Boost that lasts 30 minutes or a chest of 100 gems. Plus, Friends Quests are worth more Quest Points than daily challenges, so each Friends Quest you complete helps you get that shiny Monthly Goal badge even faster.
Send reminders (and gifts)
The best of friends hold each other accountable, and you can do that by sending your partner a message and giving them a nudge to do their daily lesson. But if that doesn’t get their attention, send gifts! Through Friends Quest, you have the option to send double XP to each other. A little boost goes a long way in keeping that motivation alive.
