The best images and videos have one very simple commonality: they’re straight. Even if the composition is intentionally off-balance, if it’s not horizontal, anyone viewing it will be more confused than enthused (particularly with videos).
Keeping your camera perfectly aligned is no small feat, especially if you’re rushing or happen across something you want to capture but there’s no time to properly set things up. All too often, before you know it, the moment’s over and you’re left with an obscure take on what could have been a great memory.
But Horizon Camera is the app that aims to eliminate those awkward vertical videos for good. The concept is straightforward, literally: you can shoot horizontal videos and images no matter how you hold your device.
This is a highly intuitive addition to your app collection. By detecting the angle of your iPhone or iPad and automatically adjusting the horizontal level, you can start shooting immediately without having to adjust settings, making it perfect for those unexpected moments. Choose the Flex mode so the camera will automatically zoom in and out according to your angle or alternatively select Rotate mode, so the range is fixed.
There’s a cool collection of filters such as Nightowl, Retro and Movie, and each will add a touch of creative flair to your memories. It’s easy to switch between taking videos and photos too with a simple swipe. While you’re recording video, you can also simultaneously take pictures by tapping on the camera icon, so you’ll be able to capture those all-important moments in one go with the best of both formats.
To save your photos and videos, drag and drop them into the Saved folder in the bottom right corner of the app screen. And to showcase the perfectly horizontal results to your friends, share directly to your social network of choice.
Now, no matter what way you turn your phone to shoot, Horizon will level things out, meaning your Camera Roll will no longer be horizontally challenged.
