Since its arrival in 2016, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has proven to be one of the most competitive and exciting games on the App Store. Having fostered such a huge esports community, it even became a medal event in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games – marking the first time that people can win medals for playing a mobile game in an international sporting event.

Whether you’re just looking for some great action or dreaming of joining an international tournament, choosing the right hero is crucial. To kickstart your quest for glory, here’s our handy guide to the game’s heroes. Choose wisely!

The Fighters

Offering a good balance between damage and durability, Fighters can close in to deal serious attacks and stay in the fight.

For new players, the beefy orc warrior Balmond is a solid pick. His skills can unleash damage to multiple enemies and slow them down, making them unable to escape from his fury. And every time Balmond takes down an enemy, he heals himself so he can continue fighting.

The Tanks

Thanks to their robustness, Tanks often lead the charge and take many hits for the team. While their offence capabilities may be limited, Tanks can seriously disrupt the enemy with crowd control skills, which create opportunities for teammates to exploit.

The armoured knight Tigreal is a great Tank hero for beginners. He can easily absorb incoming attacks, while his skills offer a wide range of tactical possibilities: slowing down enemies, pushing them away or pulling them in and stunning them.

The Assassins

Fragile but deadly, Assassins can wreak serious havoc among enemy ranks thanks to sneaky attacks with high bursts of damage. They can either pick off lone heroes or devastate the enemy backline during a team fight.

While playing Assassins requires a bit more skill than usual, the cyborg swordsman Saber is more beginner-friendly than others. He can damage enemies from afar with flying blades, chipping down their defence before suddenly moving in for the kill with a series of lethal blows.

The Mages

With a huge variety of spells at their disposal, Mages can both deliver serious magical damage and afflict crippling status effects on enemies. What they lack in toughness, they make up with sheer damage and crowd control capabilities.

A solid starter’s choice for Mages is the lightning sorceress Eudora. She can both stun enemies and inflict damage to multiple foes. Even better, once an enemy is struck by one of Eudora’s skills, her other skills will intensify, hastening the enemy’s doom.

The Marksmen

Specialising in ranged physical attacks, Marksmen tend to start off weak, but grow stronger exponentially later on to become the team’s main damage dealers. A properly equipped Marksman at the highest level can devastate the entire enemy team.

One of the best Marksmen for newcomers is the swift archer Miya, who can deliver rapid attacks that hit multiple enemies at once. Her ultimate skill even allows Miya to become invisible and move faster for a while, so she can escape from dire situations or ambush enemies.

The Supports

While not the hardest hitters or beefiest brawlers, Supports can turn the tide of the battle by healing allies or giving them shields, maintaining the momentum of the team. They also often have powerful crowd control skills that can easily cripple enemy heroes.

A great choice for beginners is the angelic healer Rafaela. She can assist the team in multiple ways, by healing teammates or slowing and stunning enemies. Even when taken down, Rafaela can have the last laugh as she delivers a powerful parting shot to her killer.
