Learn to Read - Duolingo ABC

Interactive Stories for Kids

View

Duolingo is one of the most successful language-learning apps in the world. Now with Duolingo ABC, kids aged 3 to 6 can join the fun with English reading activities – the app uses the tried-and-tested methods that make Duolingo so popular, but with added cute monkeys.

What we love: The sheer variety of exercises with which new readers can engage. Kiddos identify pictures, drag letters to spell words and trace their names to progress through the app’s levels and collect the stories that Duo and Fofo accidentally dropped from their airship. Duolingo ABC also features handwriting lessons and sight word practice.

The fun cast of characters will keep your children engaged.

Quick tip: Is your reader feeling confident? Head to the town library and choose from dozens of illustrated short stories that focus on word recognition, pronunciation and reading comprehension.

Meet the creator: Duolingo was founded by Luis von Ahn and Severin Hacker in 2011. They launched Duolingo ABC in 2020 to combat illiteracy around the world: “Taking everything we know about how people learn languages and how to keep learners motivated with gamification, we believe we can make a dent in global literacy rates,” says von Ahn.
