Day One

Your journal for life

When you’re trying to capture the breadth of your life’s experience, sometimes words are not enough. Day One gets this. It offers a beautiful, minimalist take on digital journaling but goes beyond basic “Dear Diary” entries. Your reflections can also include photos, audio, hand-drawn doodles – even your step count for the day, the moon phase and other digital ephemera. Day One handles it all.

Day One’s calendar view lets you quickly see the days you completed an entry, colour-coded by topic.

The app has an uncluttered design that serves as a focused space to write and reflect, and it tidily organises everything for you, with support for filters, tags and multiple notebooks.

Day One offers the same flexibility when you review your entries as when you created them. Flip through photos, browse locations on a map or thumb through dates. Curious for more context? Just click an entry to see all the information you recorded. And if you make something in Day One you’d like to share with the world (or just a friend or two), use one of the many exporting options, including publishing your entries to a web page, a PDF or even a printed book.

The photos view provides a beautiful timeline of your photo-based entries.

The latest version of Day One is even easier to use. It includes a streamlined toolbar for faster access to the most important tools, a new journal-entry view that puts key formatting options within easy reach; a quicker way to open multiple entries simultaneously, and an improved menu-bar-entry component.

Companion iOS and Apple Watch apps let you compose new entries wherever you happen to be, and those entries sync across devices. Once you start using Day One, you’ll realise that this digital journal is ahead of its time.
