How it works?

Connect with your partner and swipe through baby name cards together. If you both like the same name, it's a match and is added to your favorites list, so you'll never forget it. One name will last a lifetime.

The Babyname app features over 30,000 unique names – each with its meaning and origin. Like how the name Lucy means light, and Yunus means Dove. That’s nice, isn’t it?

Utilising a similar swipe-based mechanic to Tinder, potential baby names pop up as you swipe left to discard and right to like. As well as adding these ’liked’ names into a list of appealing possibilities, if your partner also downloads the app, you can sync up your phones using a shareable link or AirDrop and set about making your own, disagreement-free lists.

The hook? When you both ’like’ the same name, you’ll get a match alert. All of these mutually agreeable names then populate a list all of their own and you can narrow things down together, free from the worry of suggesting a name that will get you that look. You know the one.

With more than 30,000 names to pick from, you can filter suggestions based on sex, or keep things together if your new arrival will be a surprise. You can even expand your options with collections inspired by celebrity, athlete, and even hipster-based names (yes, really).

What’s more, if ridding your home life of any added stress and unwanted arguments wasn’t enough, Babyname also gives context to your choices, revealing the origins and meanings behind the names. For instance, did you know that Sara means a noble lady or a princess? Or that Lorelei is an alluring enchantress? How about that Cecilia means blind, grey eyes, and Maria is a sea of bitterness? No? SUBMIT NAMES & Get A Real Feedback From Your Partner

With our new feature, you can add potential names to the app without your partner knowing and receive honest feedback on them. Simply enter the name, choose a gender, and add a meaning. Your partner will see the name within their next 10 swipes, and they can swipe left or right to indicate whether they like it or not.

Research shows that partners often don't give honest feedback when suggesting baby names to avoid hurting each other's feelings. Our new feature eliminates this issue, and you can now get genuine feedback from your partner on the names you like.

Good concept

Good for a free app. Looking at some of the other reviews I wasn’t convinced the paid version was worth it. The connectivity with your partner is great. Definitely seen repetition of rejected names as mentioned by other users.

could’ve been nice, but

One thing that really disappoints is the developers way of trying to maximize their revenue in a cheesy way. you will need to pay multiple times to get what you want. for example paying for filters is different from paying to remove ads. it would have been easier and more transparent to have free version, and a paid version that just includes all. or a clear way to select suitable options that give you exactly what you want without having to pay more later to unlock more. the app looks good. but I was disappointed to see the same names appear repeatedly, in the same or different spelling. Also there are names that have incorrect meanings or spellings. Needs some work.
