What’s New

Version 4.13

New exercises now available, including step-by-step guidance by Alan Gordon, LCSW, the creator of Pain Reprocessing Therapy! This novel approach was studied in a 2021 randomized clinical trial published by four members of Curable's Scientific Advisory Board showing significant results for chronic pain patients who used PRT:
- 66% were pain-free or nearly pain-free at post-treatment (vs. 20% in the placebo group, 10% in the usual standard of care group)
- Gains were largely maintained at a 1-year follow-up
- MRIs showed changes in the brain's pain response relative to the other groups

We’ve also made technological improvements to create:
- Smoother in-app audio experiences
- Enhanced customization settings
- Better personalized recommendations

As always, we continue to add new interviews with chronic pain experts and inspiring recovery stories to jumpstart your healing.

Getting started

This is my first week using the curable app. I love how easy it is to navigate and personalise to what I am looking for. Information so far is really helpful and while I was sceptical starting out I am amazed that I already feel more in control of my pain and feel I can actually help myself improve.

Review Update - from cautious welcome to hopeful confidence

I thought I’d give an update on my progress using the Curable app. I also read my previous review, which I wrote in a hurry, and was so embarrassed at the poor grammar and typos that I felt obliged to try again. Hopefully, I’ll do a little better this time and that anyone reading it will find it helpful.

I have suffered with migraines since 2005. My migraines were happening on a weekly basis, mostly lasting a day but sometimes I would have a two or three day migraine episode. The pain and nausea intensity ranged from mild to extreme, causing me to need to leave work or not go in at all. I have missed important events in my life, including not being physically able to attend the funeral of a close friend who had died quite young. I was so sick.

I was either expecting pain, enduring pain or recovering from pain. That was my existence. Not a great way to live! When not in pain I’m a mostly a cheerful easy going person with a good sense of humour and enjoy work, friends, family and life. However, with the migraines I could not enjoy anything or bear to be around people (nor they me). Nothing ever gave me any relief. I just endured the pain as best I could as I had no other choice.

Now for the good part. I am really beginning to believe that I have turned a corner. Tomorrow is my 60th day without a migraine and I genuinely owe it to the Curable app (because I have changed nothing else). I will admit that a small part of me thinks that maybe this is just a period of respite and that tomorrow or the next day things will go back to the way they were two months ago. In the meantime, I just keep using the app and keep reminding myself of the things I’ve already learned about pain and the brain-body relationship.

In my previous review I mentioned that I learned how to reverse the pain whenever I felt a migraine kicking off. That was at day 47. In the last two weeks I’ve noticed that I am getting way less of that feeling of a migraine coming on in the first place.

Because I don’t even get the start of a migraine as much as before, I have stopped anticipating pain as much as I used to. When I remember how things were and begin to get a bit anxious about pain, I just click on the Curable app and find something that takes a few minutes just to reinforce the principles that I’ve learned. If I’m honest I sometimes just want to hear a recovery story or two to strengthen the sense of hope that has been growing over these last few months.

The Curable app is not a gimmick or snake oil, it’s just something that works for me, imperfectly at first, then got better as I started to get it. It surprised me but made sense at the same time, if that makes sense. I would say to anyone who suffers from chronic pain, just try the app for a few weeks. The first few weeks are free anyway. So no harm in giving it a go. If it makes sense and you see improvement then continue but only if you feel if it’s for you.

I can’t remember how much the subscription is but it was for nothing compared to the pain I had put up with. Besides, it’s not like I’m locked in, I figure I can cancel at any point in the future, but right now I think I’ll stick with it. The peace of having no migraines is priceless to me. Even if I get one now and again I’m not bothered and will continue to follow this route to healing.

I’ll write another review at about the six month point of my journey. Hopefully, I will be saying more of the same things as in this review.
