The quickest way of free-up space

I've been using Daisy Disk for years now. I know my way around a Mac, yet this is far more convenient that searching manually for files to delete.

For example, today I had over 100 GB of space mysteriously vanish. Fired-up Daisy Disk and I was quickly able to see my Library had ballooned in size due to an application deciding to create massive log files in a non-standard logs folder it had, for reasons, decided to create. Obscure behaviour like this wouldn't be obvious - particularly given how Library folders are ordinarily hidden.

One feature I like is the ability to collect files and folders as I traverse the disk, then at the end reviewing those items and deciding what to delete. It's great for putting together a list of candidates

Invaluable

With a 125 Gb hard drive this App is fantastic, so easy to use, glitch free, beautiful to look at. Makes the MacBook Air usable.

v3 Tiny issue when installing via the Apple App Store. Easy, once-only fix.

I've been using DaisyDisk for a couple of years and loved it. Upgraded to v3, still love it!

Issue
I recently upgraded to v3 and after restarting the app found to my surprise that the Scan buttons had disappeared! Tried a few approaches, restarts etc. before writing to the developers. Their email reply about 20 mins later showed me the one-time step I had to take.

Solution
It's simple - open a Finder window (from the menu - Go > Computer to show the disks on your machine) and drag-and-drop your startup disk (usually Macintosh HD) icon to DaisyDisk. After you do this the Scan buttons will appear. This has to be done just once and the next time you launch DaisyDisk, the Scan buttons will be visible.

Reason
I always want to know why... When DaisyDisk is bought through the App Store that version must follow app sandboxing rules set out by Apple. Permission must be 'given' to DaisyDisk to allow it scan your disks. When you drag your startup disk to DaisyDisk, you grant access to scan it (and any other disks connected to your Mac), and so the missing button issue is resolved. Fortunately it's a one-time only issue, the granted access is preserved across launches.
