You don’t need lots of time or pro skills to make the most of this ultra-fast, super-intuitive photo editor. Darkroom can access your whole photo library at once, letting you immediately start cropping, adjusting curves and using preset filters or creating your own—until your pics are exactly how you want them.
The best in phone photo editing app
When I was a kid working in a darkroom in my school, I remember the joy of processing black and white images, working with exposures, etc. I remember the wonder of taking black and white images with different filters and seeing the extraordinary effect this could have on the contrast and tone of the final image. It’s a feeling I’d lost until I found this app.
It’s not an absolute replacement for the darkroom (you can’t burn and dodge in parts of the image) but since I watched a Sean Tucker video talking about it’s merits, I’ve found it is the ONLY app I now use to edit my images. I love it. The global control of the image is super and the tap to view the original (which I know is not unique to Darkroom) is a lovely feature. I love the borders, the individual colour controls, the straightening, vignette tools, sharpening. It’s everything I could want and need to make my photos better. I am taking better photos because I know I am looking forward to “processing” them again. I don’t know what more you could ask for of an app.
If I could suggest a feature, it would be nice to be able to tap and hold each individual colour filter, to see the before and after effect on the image of just that colour. But it’s not the end of the world not having it.
I love this app more than any other tool in my photography arsenal. I can not recommend it highly enough.
