Hayu: Watch Reality TV 12+

All my favourite shows are trapped inside a terribly coded app!

Love Hayu, LOVE IT! However as a platform, Hayu seems to always have issues, regardless of the device I’m watching on.

One of the most annoying things I encounter is that the app assumes I should jump back into the latest episode of a series I’m watching, instead of jumping back into the last episode I watched. Not the worst thing, but it’s very annoying when I’m when I’m on RHOC season 7 and it’s telling me to jump back into season 16. No Karen.

But anyways, why I’m writing this is; I haven’t been able to open the app for two days now. It doesn’t even look like a normal app crash. When I delete and reinstall the app opens for roughly 15 seconds before the aforementioned issue reoccurred, necessitating another delete and reinstall.


But yeah to conclude. Love the catalogue, but the apps general performance and the logic behind a lot of its features…leads me to believe it was built by aliens. I mean, I’m never gonna watch Bethany Frankel’s spin-off show.

Would not recommend

Soooo bad, have reluctantly been using it on and off for about 4 years now, I always cancel the subscription after a while because I get so frustrated with the loading issues in browser and app. Constantly throws me out mid episode and shows the same error. It’s nothing to do with my devices as I get the same issue with every device and it’s been the same reason I eventually cancel my subscription after a few weeks for the last 4 years. I’ve emailed them about it but nothing has changed, the only reason I come back sometimes and renew the subscription is because certain shows I watch I can’t find anywhere else. If I can find another similar platform I will switch but I’m yet to find any. This is the main issue but (as someone with a background in computer science) the app and browser version are very badly designed overall, so many other small things that are frustrating to the user.

Sound and video not in sync

I’m disappointed in this app for two reasons. When I watch something, a few minutes in to it I find that the sound/dialogue is not in sync with what I’m watching and pausing it or fast forwarding it doesn’t help.. it renders the whole show I’m watching useless and it extremely frustrating to see it happen again and again.

Also, the app some days tells me to “finish setting up” which I have already done and it took me a while to figure out that you can’t set up anything through the app, it has to be done on the website so that really bothered me initially and now it still tells me finish setting up so I have to sign out and back in again to start watching shows.
The content is good but the app needs a lot of work.
