Used to “LIKE” it

Instagram had been my favorite social media app until they introduced the new feature which stops myself and other users to view the amount of likes on posts which are not ours. In the notification I received it stated that only I would be able to see the amount of likes I receive however I cannot see the amount of likes I received on my own posts! In my opinion this new feature is absolutely absurd. Not only can I not see my own likes but it will also effect influencers who depend on the amount of likes they receive so that they can get endorsement deals and the likes to receive their income. I am very disappointed in the path instagram has chosen to take as this is the first ever issue I’ve encountered with this app and it has changed my outlook on the social media platform for good! Please fix this😡😡😡

Meta keeps shoving down ads and strangers’ content down your throat

The old IG was perfect. I would follow my friends and relatives, and see all of their stories and posts and that’s what my feed was about. Now switch to Meta buying the app and suddenly, you only get to see a handful of your friends’s stories and always more ads than actual stories. And your feed only showcases 2-3 posts from your following until you reach that dreadful “You’ve completely caught up - View older posts” message before only showing you ads and strangers’ content related to your likes and interests. If you go to your settings to update ads preferences, you will see an infinite list of topics you don’t even remember seeing or have never liked (I don’t watch anything related to football-soccer and yet, so many related topics are showing in my supposedly “topic of interests”). This App, just like Meta did to its own platform, pushes its users to a “stalker” level instead of primarily keeping them within their own circle of friends and family which was the original intent of Instagram, as well as pushing for consumption because of all the ads that appear in stories and feed. I deleted Meta a long time ago and Instagram deletion account is just around the corner as I do not care for content that is not that of my friends and where I have to go the extra mile to get that content that actually interests me.

Real matters fall upon deaf ears.

It is woeful to observe the state of Instagram, an app overrun by toxic individuals who revel in the degradation of others. The artist community, in particular, has become a cesspool of callousness, as skilled creators struggle to gain even a modicum of recognition for their works, while the latter does little and gains unmerited attention. This sad state is due largely to the addiction that so many have developed to Instagram, that seems to encourage a lack of concern for others. So many, instead of thinking about life and all it’s aspects as one should, are in an odyssey to receive glorification for any little thing, and if that is not fulfilled they will do anything and everything to take the unnecessary revenge. Moreover, the addiction leads to little time being spent improving oneself, one’s self-respect and morals. Oh, how the stories could go wild…! The very algorithm that governs the platform is too, at fault for never pushing the work of artists to the forefront. Their service is a disappointment. The result is a skewed system of social hierarchy, among the scheme of things. It is a dire situation indeed, and one that Instagram seems unwilling to address. The lack of community on the platform has bred a culture of indifference, with little learned about how to be kinder. We can only hope that a new era of enlightenment may dawn upon the platform, and true spirit of creativity and community may reign triumphant.
