I am very grateful to my driver Tomy (Peugeot Silver, in Lucan 31th July 2024 at 11 am), who drove me to the Embassy. I was late and anxious because the Embassy closes at 12 pm. He chose the best way and dropped me off in time. I am very happy with this service that takes care of the customers. I am thankful to the Lynk taxi to work with such a wonderful people like Tomy. Card pre authorised - WHY?

I usually use Freenow but with the €1 additional fee added I decided to shop around.This company pre authorises an estimate fee on your card for the journey you have booked.When I went to pay the taxi man had taken us about 10km out of the way which added about €6 onto the estimate fare. My PTSB card via Apple Pay declined when he tried to take payment. He then demanded that I pay cash (I don’t carry cash). I asked if he would accept card payment to which he produced a sumup machine & I used my PTSB card to pay & it went through no problem. My issue is that I got an email from Lynk today asking me to link another bank card for when I use the service again (I don’t have another bank card) They said that PTSB has banking restrictions due to the pre authorised amount being lower than the actual fare. This is why the payment declined. I’ll be taking my custom to Bolt as I really do not agree with pre authorising a bank card for a taxi fare. Particularly if you are not happy at any point to the journey.People paying cash aren’t pre authorised.This is a silly business model

I truly understand the inconvenience of card pre-authorisations. However, it is a banking requirement to check the validity of the card and minimise the risk of fraudulent card transactions on your card. It is not company specific but a banking requirement. The pre-authorisation is for the estimated fare and if the final fare is more than the estimated fare the system charges for the remainder. Unfortunately Permanent TSB seems to block those second charges which is why the payment failed on your last journey. That's why we suggested using a different card. You can still use your Permanent TSB for future bookings but just to explain how it works. We really would love to keep you as a customer and hope to see you again soon!

I was trying to book a taxi with only 40 in my account, i went in to check how much it is, and it went ahead and took the money out without confirming!!! I then called to say that and ask that i had booked it too early as i was only trying to check, and by the time i finished my sentence the agent had cancelled my trip!!! I needed to go to the hospital for an appointment, had nothing to call a taxi again and no ride as it was cancelled and i had rebook if i needed a ride!!!! And then on top of that!! Was extremely rude on the phone and hung up saying theres nothing i can do for you!!!!! Ridiculous!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that. Please email us at support@lynk.ie with details of the phone number you called from and we will investigate. A pre-authorisation for an estimated amount of the fare is placed on your card when you create a booking. This is to comply with banking regulations for Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) required within the European Union's Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2). After our car breaking down coming off the boat having been up all night we were very stressed! Our driver turned up quickly, really clean car, driver was friendly and made the journey enjoyable. Highly recommended and will be using again when we are next in Dublin
