Came for the cool logo design, stayed for the ease of use. Sign in was very easy, once I chose the server it signed me in automatically since I was already signed in on the official app, and I was off to the races. I’m not an expert on how Mastodon works, but I found that my searches for accounts were much more successful through Metatext than the official app. I do enjoy how you can choose between “toots” and “posts”, I can see the appeal for both. The UI feels a lot less “enclosed” than in the official app, it uses many default iOS UI parameters, which might not be your style, but I find it quite intuitive. System dark and light mode is a big plus for me, I find that with this UI style light mode can be eye watering at night.

Now some caveats:
While I didn’t make an account this time, the process of creating an account through this app is much bulkier than via the official app. Where the official app had its own UI for creating an account, Metatext instead redirects you to the in-app browser to create an account. I know that iOS is messy at best when it comes to account creation in app and redirecting outside of the app, but hopefully something can be done to make this a bit more accessible. Another feature I hope to be added is the ability to see the context of content warnings. As of right now, all we can see is “sensitive content” on top of the blurred out post/image. A content warning works better if the viewer is informed about what’s behind it beforehand.

All in all, I would still call this the best fediverse app on the App Store. I enjoy the choice of icons, and it makes Mastodon a much more pleasant experience.
