Official app always updated

Out of all the apps this is the only official Irish app and it is always updated. You’ll also find that the support is exceptionally good. For the extra money you know that the questions have been asked I’m going to be similar to the ones on test day. The other advantages are the practice tests where are you can see exactly where you’ve gone wrong and then the mock tests. Forget the other apps which may be slightly cheaper this has so many more advantages, just been regularly updated with any problems you have you know that the person answering it will be qualified to answer any questions you have. Excellent app The only thing you’ll need to get prepared

Questions contradict each other !!!

I’ve done a few tests now and two questions came up one after another. “What are the fixed fine and penalty points for unaccompanied learner driver” answer is 80 euros fine and 2 penalty points. Then the following question was “What is the amount of penalty points an unaccompanied learner driver can receive?” Answer is 5 points. Then another question is “what is amount a learner unaccompanied can be fined” Answer is 120 euros.
What are the correct answers because this seems to be contradicting each other ????

UPDATE- Hi there I’m trying to attach a screenshot but it won’t let me. Anywyas one of the questions is A learner driver unaccompanied can receive a minimum of how many penalty points- Answer is 5.
Then another question is a learner driver can receive on conviction if unaccompanied. A minimum of how many points? Answer is 4 points. How is 5 the minimum but for 4 is the minimum on conviction? Sorry maybe I’m being stupid I don’t understand, they’re too similar 😬

Dear msrebeckyxo,

Here is a list of all of the penalty points from the RSA: http://www.rsa.ie/Documents/Licensed%20Drivers/Penalty%20Point%20offences%20as%20of%2017%20April%202016.pdf

The questions in the app reflect the facts contained in this list.

Shortly after it was released, we did correct some question errors in the data, but these updates have been available for over a month now - and should have been automatically applied to your app. However if you have not got your device set to update automatically there might be pending updates waiting. Definitely worth checking in any case.

If your app is definitely up to date and you are still finding questions that do not reflect the chart supplied, please contact our support department and either provide question wording, screen shots or question IDs so that we can investigate further. TODTTSupport@imagitech.co.uk

Some questions not very specific

On the whole I like the app. I am an experienced driver for years with full licence but going for BE licence for trailer up to 3500kg and need to sit theory test first(did not exist when I got my licence). Some questions might be giving incorrect answer or missing word like “how many points does learner driver get if driving unaccompanied”. I have seen two answers one 2 points which I think is correct and another answer which app says is correct was 4 points on conviction in court, but question did not say anything about conviction. Also a question what dangers appear over the hill with the main answers being either hedge cutting, slow moving vehicle. It shows a picture of a hedge on both sides so I guess you have to assume you are in the country and expect any thing around the next corner.

Small items but like the app

Developer Response ,

Dear cpcfeedback, many thanks for your comments. I just wanted to highlight a couple of things in response on these specific questions: In each case, you need to pick the best answer that is *available*.

The one about driving along a country lane: You are right, there are lots of things that COULD be obscured, but some are very much more likely than others (people, animals, farm vehicles). In this case, the other things offered are almost never found on country lanes (pelican crossing, traffic calming) or would be visible anyway (highsided vehicle).

The other question about fines is queried a lot. The important thing to know is that nearly every offence has two levels of fine / points depending on how quickly the matter is settled and whether it goes to court or not. There is a "normal" level and a discounted level, a "settled by payment of a fine" points level and a "court conviction" level. If the question asks for the minimum fine - then they are looking for the discounted values. If no mention is made of minimum, then the normal level is implied. If the question is about points and the question includes the word "conviction" then the higher value is what the question is looking for - otherwise it will be the lower value.

All the fines / points values for offences can be found in this handy table: https://www.rsa.ie/Documents/Licensed%20Drivers/RSA%20Penalty%20Points%20Offences%202019.pdf

Hope that helps!
