Procreate Dreams 4+

No doubt it will be 5 stars in future but a bit too buggy atm

This is a great app but needs a few improvements so let’s get the negatives out of the way

The colour sampler at the moment is really sensitive to the point that I’ve accidentally picked colours while trying to fill

Sometimes redo just does not work which is fine but inconvenient

If you lower opacity of a drawing layer in draw mode then add a new layer on top that layer will have the same opacity as the base layer even at 100% so you need to add a layer when base layer is at 100% then lower base layer after which is a pain

Finally if while expanding frames of a drawing you accidentally undo it makes every single drawing on that track reset to 1 frame , this is easily undone with undo and redo but like stated above sometimes those undos and redos don’t work

Finally adjusting brushes I still have no idea how to do its a mystery some have heavy stabilisation some have none I was hoping brushes would be same as regular procreate but nope can’t seem to get that working that way

So positives

It really is nice all in one app allowing you to do audio , video and drawing in same app

Swiping through frames is really nice

Drawing accuracy is same as procreate

Will be no doubt great in future

As for more gesture controls for Eyedropper, it is also listed as a requested feature and we will add your support load to it. As we are actively working on bringing more features to Procreate Dreams, it is possible that it will be available in a future version. For redo, please make sure you have not made any new strokes after your undo actions, as such action would clear the previous steps for redo and start a new branch. The layer opacity issue is indeed a known bug we have at the moment. It is logged with the team for future improvement and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. As for the brush stabilisation issue, that sounds a little odd. Could you please send through an externally recorded video (e.g. use your phone to record) showing yourself attempting to draw with different brushes in Procreate Dreams and replicating the issue you are experiencing via procre.at/support? Such visual context should allow us to better troubleshoot for you. Once we have the video, we will look into the troublesome behaviours further and do whatever we can to help you. 🙏

Idea

Great idea overall, please can you add a setting for move and scale to be separate , if I add picture and make it small I can’t move it as for some reason it starts to scale , I can’t move and animate the way I want as each time I want to move and animate it scales only if I zoom in then I can move , in other words if I make small picture object I can’t move it acros the screen cos it starts to stretch instead of moving , a bit frustrating , if I select object I wan to be able to move it , so maybe when object selectet you can have some dots on different corners that can respond to move ore stretch , as right now I understand that when I zoom in to object centre is for moving and sides for scaling , but if the object is small it’s unposible to press to middle to move the object , anyway greate app looking forward for future updates , thanks

Amazing App, Amazing Company, But a WIP

I have been using Procreate products for almost 10 years now. I’ve seen procreate grow from a little app to the mobile-monolith it is now. I know and trust these devs to do the same for Dreams. Because if you’re expecting a fully-fleshed out professional animation app when you buy this, you’ll be disappointed. The app is still growing, and their public roadmap is promising and achievable.

The dev team has always been helpful and friendly. Personally fixing files that were corrupted, great responses and explanations to only queries, etc. This positive drive extends to their products, and I have full confidence in their ability to deliver a truly incredible app!

So, what’s the state of Dreams Right now?
Well, dreams has the basics!
> Frame-by-frame and customizable onion skins
> Keyframing & Tweening
> Record Mode
> Effects (warp, opacity, etc.)
> Layers & Brushes from Procreate, including the ability to drag and drop in custom brushes and existing layers in procreate files
> Sound and video functionality
> Offstage area
> ICloud file sharing
> custom frame rates

The functionality is already enough to make me shift from my other mobile animation options to Dreams, and I don’t plan to be leaving any time soon! Procreate has earned my loyalty.
