Hidden UI elements ruin experience
I know they were just trying to make everything more sleek and attractive but in the process they've severely sacrificed usability. Classic case of form over function here.
Overly complicated
For something that performs such a simple function, I don't understand the usability complexity of the app. If you miss the initial wizard you would be left flummoxed as to what to do when inside.
I read the initial wizard and understood that you tap and hold the time to change the alarm and I tried this over and over and it would not budge. Turns out you have to switch the alarm off before this can be done. This is not obvious but only after messing around and trying combinations did this become obvious.
There are some good parts to this app too such as dimming settings, playing a sleepy playlist before nodding off and progressive alarms.
However, I understand simplicity can be beautiful but "too" simple can be unhelpful and confusing. Some very minimal onscreen guidance could make a world of difference.
No instructions - not as simple as it looks
Alarm didn't ring twice this week. Volume levels are normal, am I supposed to leave my phone on loud all night? What's the volume icon for at the bottom, pressing it does nothing?
I have to re-set a playlist each night, which never plays btw. I'm all for simplicity and a minimal UI but this app is clearly not ready. It's not apparent how to use it (the settings). Wasted money, the apple alarm app does a better job at the minute.
