Simplicity is its Best Feature

I have been a user of SimpleNote for many years, ever since it first came out. It remains my GoTo note taking application for everything I do on the fly. I find it particularly valuable for taking notes when I am doing research (Humanities). I have mastered the art of typing on my phone and 90 per cent of the time I am using my phone. However, I also value its avaiability on my desktop computer as well. Everything syncs perfectly. I don’t use Markdown with it but I appreciate the fact that I can use if I want to do this. The export options are good. Some may prefer a more fully featured app but this one absolutely nails for its simplicity and its very intuitive interface. But don’t ask from it more than it is designed to do. It is for notes, not for formatting your great novel. Though, maybe, it is good for that to, but I’m not aware of that. Enjoy!

Decent, but beware

SimpleNote(SN) has some great qualities, but ease of use is not automatically one of them.
On the iPad the App allows the use of fingerprint to to act as verification for use. Great but...

When the app is used in split screen mode we move into "sod-off" mode - and I am still trying to outwit it.

Open an article on the iPad and decide that it would be useful to make some notes about the article. So drag in split screen mode and open SN. The App immediately requires that one unlocks the application by using TouchID. Do so and both the App that contains the relevant article and SN close down. Super. Of course one could cancel the request leaving one with the option of entering the passcode by hand. The option is there but doesn't work.
So let's start with SN open. It will actually only allow one to open it using the fingerprint. Entering the code manually is not an option.
So we have SN open and ready for action. Now we bring up the App containing the relevant article. But that doesn't work, in this instance, because the Economist app does not appear in split screen mode menu (although it is possible to get them on the same screen with the reverse opening procedure. So I opened the Guardian App. Now, whilst I had fully opened SN before opening the Guardian App, SN was now requiring that I enter my Passcode again - which it will not allow me to do. So yet again I can't use the note taking app for taking notes.
This behaviour occurs under OS9 and OS10, so by deduction it appears that SN is probably the weak link. Sad for what is normally a decent note taking app.

And the icing on the cake. The help team have closed down and switched off all communication.
