Thought this would be a totally new game full of fresh ideas but unfortunately not, all the levels are just remastered versions of old levels from the previous games. Very stale with very few new ideas. What new ideas there are are gimmicks bar the homing attack. Plus the new physics take all the thrill out of Sonics speed. Only buy if cheap better off with the old games

Nice enough game I suppose but is hampered by a few issues.

Dpad controls are terrible. The pad is too small (kids don't play sonic! Only retro gamers i.e.adults!!!) and too close to the side of the screen (would it have been so hard to make it moveable like so many other games?) resulting in a lot of sonic doing nothing because your finger has moved off screen. Very annoying!

As mentioned in other reviews, it seems sonics mobility has taken a bit of a knock in his old age too. Jumping on a bounce pad basically means straight up with a small possibility of sideways movement at the peak of the jump. Also tough to keep sonic moving at times in general. Very little momentum which is what sonic is all about really! Add to that the control issue above any this makes for a very frustrating experience. Bosses are a nightmare!

Graphics are what you would expect from a sonic game but since it is billed as sonic 4 (and not "A mish mash of levels from other sonic games") you would expect something new in graphics and level design.

All in all, if you can get past the dpad issue or use accelerometer (personally I hate accelerometer controls for all games) and dont mind replaying old sonic levels, then this is a good enough game, hence the 3/5 but if you MUST use dpad and were looking for something more, consider this a 1/5 game! Disapointing, considering I only had enough credit to buy either this or sonic 2. Made the wrong choice I feel!
