Living along the coast and beside a beach means I like to know if the tide is in or out if I want to jog on the beach or bring the kids/ dog for walks etc.So knowing the high and low tide times is very useful as the tide comes right in to the dunes edge. Also there is a small river that flows past the entrance to where I live and can flood if there is heavy rain combined with the tide in so knowing the tide cycle can help avoid getting caught if there is a flood.

Very useful app when living by a village prone to river floods as it helps to gauge whether the height you see from the window is likely to get higher at any given point in the day. Also as a tourist spot it's not uncommon for me to be asked by boaters & fishers whether the tide is coming in or going out & when it will do either. Now I don't need to look at them blankly..
