Excellent HYSA
I was looking for a high yield savings account after realising the 4 main banks in Ireland don’t offer anything on uninvested cash. Trading republic is one of the best options out there. I feel confident that my money is safe and transactions are handled in a timely manner.
Not as good as it seems
I tried it out because I heard of the 4% interest on uninvested cash. Setting up the app was relatively simple and frictionless. Once you’re in, the app is not that clear cut and there are some confusing displays. Also there are relatively significant fees for lodging money after the first time.
DONT ADD MONEY USING APPLE PAY/GOOGLE PAY. The app doesn’t save it as a valid bank account and then you can’t withdraw your money. Trying to figure this out from inside the apps support pages was like going around in circles. Useless support pages, no customer service. Eventually I figured it out by sending an actual bank transfer of €1 from Revolut to my Trade Republic account. Then it takes days to save, then it takes days more for you money to come back to you.
Just use Trading 212 instead, same interest, less fees, easier app to use.
The new redesign is made for little kids
The functionalities of the app are great and it is a great tool for your investments. However, the new redesign of the app is very inconvenient. In an effort to simplify navigation, designers went too far and made information hard to find.
When running upgrades like this you should give your users an option to opt out of the new experience and gather feedback from beta testers first.
