People power meets the open road in this amazing navigation app. Waze’s crowd-sourced alerts come from real drivers, not algorithms, delivering info you won’t see anywhere else to keep your commute flowing. The friendly interface and convenient detour routing really help the app shine, and its social-network integration make road trips with buddies a blast.
Ineffective in Dublin
Not effective in Dublin. We have tested it 4 times with one of my friends - I went the way WAZE proposed, he went an alternative way based on experience. 4 out of 4 not only he was faster, but I stuck in traffic for longer than usual.
There is an explanation for this though. WAZE offers the route at a certain point in time. At that time it may be the best. You take it, but in a few minutes (in Dublin it’s this fast) situation dramatically changes. But you already have passed by the turn to an alternative. At this point you are forced to go the way WAZE initially calculated BEFORE the traffic stopped still.
I used to prefer it to Google maps, but now I'm back to GM. The fact that I can't center the map view on my car is driving me crazy. The whole screen shows a lot of map that I'm not interested in and my position is in the bottom corner, almost hidden by the bottom taskbar. The bar can not be hidden and when in difficult driving situations it's impossible to glance at the map and see which turn to actually take. No matter how I fiddle with the settings, I can't have my position centered on the screen and just easily see at a glance as in Google maps. The map ui just feels really cloogy...
