Crashes too often

I've actually loved X-COM ever since I first played it in the nineties and tuned my computer at the time to run the game. Enemy within was also great. But this one? For a lot of money it crashes too often, you have to safe every minute or to say it with one of the resistance fighters, "I hope Commander that you will slowly meet our expectations because our patience is not unlimited!

So far so good

Love this game. No performance issues so far. I’m running game on my 9th Generation iPad. My iPad is not a Pro so was just nervous making the €15 purchase, wondering would it work. I’m already 3missions into the game and game has not crashed once. Perhaps there were issues in the past but I have seen no performance issues yet.

Returning to the game itself, XCOM2 is a brilliant turn based strategy game. AI in the game is intelligent, a few bad moves and your whole team can be wiped out if you are not constantly looking for cover. Enemy will try to flank you too so you have to be clever in your gameplay. Excellent game. Well done

Update on previous review

Booted this game up again recently after not playing it since 2020. It started by downloading a series of updates that appear to have broken the game. Takes significantly longer to launch after opening the app (several minutes vs about 15 seconds before) and the title screen is totally bugged out. I also found out multiplayer was excluded because, on PC, it was also destroyed by the War of the Chosen update and Firaxis never bothered to fix it. It has been several years now. This suggests they wont fix the current bugs.

This used to be a great game. But it is now broken (will still take your money though) and the developer has a track record of showing a staggering disrespect for customers and players and a complete disdain for their own product.

Avoid like the plague.

We are not aware of any issues on the main menu. If you are having a repeated issue there, please try the following:

Open your device's Settings App
Tap "XCOM 2 Collection" in the list of applications
Select "Reset Game Settings - This Deletes User Preferences"
Restart your device
Launch the game
