It’s hard to remember now, but there was a time, in the not-too-distant past, when people didn’t utter the phrase “go on mute” every single day. That’s just one of the ways Zoom has changed the landscape/society/fabric of space-time; what started as a videoconferencing app for business has become our go-to way (and word) for connecting with people in other places. Zoom’s meteoric rise came due to timing and circumstance, sure, but the app has met its moment with an elegant design, reliable performance, and constantly evolving features. But in the end, its real meaning is bigger: Zoom keeps us connected with each other.
Never too old.
Discovered the joy of zoom recently when I was told how to use it to connect with family and friends. At 68 years of age and my children all away it was a tremendous gift to be able to talk weekly to them and sit in a virtual room as a family. It happened as a result of the Covid19 virus but even if the virus disappears for me zoom will remain as it’s a lovely way of being all together as a group at the one time.
Two years on...I absolutely love Zoom. It connected me with so many wonderful people from around the world. I was able to avail of professional counseling without having to leave my home. I use it almost daily as part of my voluntary work.
Would be lost without it.
Great facility but..
I love this app. Especially in these times of Covid 19 it has enabled me and many others to communicate with ease. And it really is easy to use. But.... There are issues with sound. Not conversational sound, voice travels very clearly through the app. Musical instruments don’t travel as clearly though. I have tried everything I can think of in settings including following instructions issued by musical bodies that I deal with and still find that the sound quality of musical instruments via Zoom is not good. But if you’re not intending to play a musical instrument to someone or to listen to them play to you then it’s super.
