Like elves toiling away in the workshop, our editors work around the clock in pursuit of the world’s finest games. Here are our favourites this week, fresh off the production line and here just in time for the holidays. We ho-ho-hope you like them!
Oddman
This will get you giggling and see you through those last days at work – it’s an incredibly daft “fighting” game where you and your opponent just hurl yourselves at each other until someone falls into the water, to the accompaniment of some suitably silly sound effects. Sometimes, that’s exactly what we need.
Ubi's Dimensions
In this gravity-bending perspective puzzler, you’ll need to think in three dimensions to get cute Ubi safely to the end of the level. Once you get into the groove of spinning the world around and changing gravity at a whim, you can spend hours exploring its chilled-out universe. Just the tonic after a night of festive partying.
Song of Bloom
This abstract and inventive little puzzler is weird, wonderful and completely one-of-a-kind. We don’t want to give too much away here, since part of the fun is discovering its unique mechanics all for yourself. But trust us on this: it’s one of the most interesting games we’ve played this year.
Gladiabots
Robot war! We’re sold already. But this comes with a strategic quirk: you have to program your robots in advance, queueing up their moves and setting up rules for how they’ll act in the field. It’s like building your own little AI. And if things don’t work out, tweak your code and try again.
Sausage Swing Club
Let’s be honest: it’s the name that won us over here. But there’s a lot more to like in this superbly silly saga of sausage-throwing, where you’re trying to land your porky pal in the pot in as few shots as possible. We especially loved the little trumpet that plays when you manage to fling your frankfurter without hitting any obstacles. Toot toot!
