This encomium is designed to introduce you to an app, telic in nature – your expanded horizons being the aim. It will become your vespertine activity to construct new and variegated sentences. And soon you too wish to pronk at your new found wordsmithery.

Okay, we’ll stop. It’s just that with innovative dictionary app LookUp, we’ve learnt so many new words, it would seem a shame not to crowbar them incongruously and inappropriately into the nearest sentence.
LookUp calls itself an “elegant dictionary” and it certainly has plenty of visual appeal. A new entry is highlighted daily in the Word of the Day spot at the top of the app’s feed. And each word is represented by little cards with colourful illustrations. Tap on the cards to read more of the definition and be led to similar words.
Choose one and challenge yourself to use it throughout the course of your day. Start with “valetudinarian”, perhaps. See how many raised eyebrows you get.
