In role-playing games a ‘total party kill’ is when all the members of an adventuring group die. Normally it’s something you avoid, but in this 2D puzzle game it’s almost an advantage.
To be fair, you don’t actually want all of your team to die. You need at least one of the three – the Knight, Mage or Ranger – to survive and get to the dungeon exit.
The trouble is that to do so, at least one of the others needs to be killed, and by their friends to boot. Players must solve puzzles by getting the dead bodies in the right position, using the powers the other characters have.
The Knight can knock either of the others flying with his sword, the Mage can freeze them into a block of ice to push, and the Ranger can pin them to a wall as a platform. The difficult part is to do this in the right order to escape each dungeon level. Every room is full of traps to avoid or buttons to press, and it’s a lot of fun trying different murder methods until you figure it out. It’s tempting to feel sorry for the deceased little adventurers, but the whole thing looks so cute, and the survivors are so happy when they escape, that it’s all worth it in the end.
