Karma - Save Food with a Tap
Rescue food effortlessly!
Chew this over: a staggering 1.9 million tonnes of food is wasted by the food industry in the UK every year.
Enter Karma, a feel-good location-based app that wants to fight the food waste scourge by connecting hungry people to restaurants with surplus meals.
How does it work? Firstly, the affiliated restaurants use Karma to advertise the dishes they have going spare – complete with a mouthwatering image.
These meals are marked on a map – use it as a menu to discover the surplus meals in your area, and pay for your chosen dish in a few taps without leaving the app. Then, just nip round the corner to pick it up like you would any regular takeaway.
Easy peasy. And it gets better.
Meals are always half price, so you’re saving hard-earned cash as well as the planet. If you’re in the mood for something specific, you can filter your options via cuisine, or look for a particular vendor using the search function. Follow your favourite restaurants to receive notifications whenever they upload a meal.
And each restaurant has a profile page, with contact details, so it’s easy to get in touch if you have a query about your order.
Waste not, want not – Karma has lunch covered.
