Description

Graph Galaxy is a modern user interface for Graphviz. It comes with two approaches to compose graphs:

• In visual editor, we can quickly sketch graphs on canvas by just clicking and dragging the mouse, without thinking the details of the DOT language. It's intuitive and effective.
• In source code editor, we use DOT language to build everything. This is especially useful when we want to maintain a human-readable DOT document.

Graph Galaxy provides an out-of-the-box environment to compose graphs. There's no need to install Graphviz as a dependency. It also brings some unique features to help us compose graphs better:

• Outline. The outline panel shows the table of contents, which gives us a quick insight about how graphs are structured.
• Import and Export. Graph Galaxy can read .gv files, and export the graphs to various formats like PDF, SVG, JPEG, PNG, and DOT.
• Table Editing. The concise and powerful shortcuts (like merge cells) allow us to create a complex table easily.
• Hand-Drawn. The strokes can be transformed to hand-drawn, which is useful for prototyping.
• GVPR. You can write GVPR program in visual editor and preview the output graph.

Minimal, but in a good way!

I like graphviz/dot a lot and so I've looked for a designated GUI. I work with the source-code mode only - I write dot by hand and let GraphGalaxy render it. There are many IDE plugins for dot that will render the image and display it, but without letting you actually zoom/click on clickable elements, e.g. with a link (like the ones you'd get from dot -Tsvg). GraphGalaxy does allow it. And while it misses a lot of "real IDE features" (example: intelligent rename), it works well enough for my needs (Find & Replace for the win!) and makes my work delightful and focused. I've tried Sublime Text plugins for dot and JetBrains IDEs (PyCharm etc.) plugins but somehow I chose to pay and stick with GraphGalaxy.
