• We told ourselves that we would never do this, that we wouldn't be like the other apps with their lazy release notes, but this update really does include "bug fixes and performance improvements."

Perfect replacement for whatsapp
Basically its a WhatsApp 1:1 with a bit different theme. All the functionality present , everything done exactly the same way. Plus - presence of desktop, iPad and such apps, minus - absence of Web version.
Obviously does not come with Facebook attached and also open source, so good for privacy and safe.
The applications do not require phone to be connected to internet all the time which is huge plus in usability and very small minus in security.
The only bad thing I can say is eyebraking “Hawaiian” shirt looking coloring scheme drives me crazy with this blue color.
Other then that - perfect replacement for WhatsApp - everything same, no need to learn to use new program
Small technical issue - in contacts in IPad I do not see the names I gave to my contacts on phone, but something else, probably names people used when registered on Signal. And it took me a lot of time to find how to rename them on IPad, the option is quite hidden
Another thing it would be nice to be able to distinguish Signal contact from other contact in search results/list
From cool to junk in one day
Some error occurred, then… app won’t open. It’s a “rare but know error”, now all my message history is gone, since it’s not *backed up at all* by design. Don’t like that design anymore. What is the point of backup? Can’t trust this app anymore .. don’t crash and lose all my data guys. Get it right.
Perfect
The only 2 things that need to be improved are:
1)The continuity of the keyboard language, while your last messages in one particular conversation are in some language, the language of the keyboard will reset to the default device language every time you’ll access the conversation.
2)Adding last seen feature (optional)
