PAKO 2

"Get in, get out, get paid."

Ever stumbled upon a game, loved it, then kept annoying everyone by constantly telling them to download it? That’s what happened to us when PAKO - Car Chase Simulator arrived back in 2014.

Now, the sequel is here and it’s even better. It has the simplicity and slick controls of the first game – you’re trying not to wreck a runaway car while being pursued by police – but everything feels bigger and bolder.

Every game of PAKO 2 is a mad dash from point to point. It's brilliant.

The spaces you drive around are huge this time, whether it’s the dusty roads and ravines of Devils Plains, or Misty Fields’ wintry lodges and frozen lakes. In all five locales, there are destinations to reach; there, you’ll pick up fellow felons and drop them off at the liquor store or gas station they intend to rob, in exchange for cash.

The longer you can keep this up without crashing into the scenery or indeed the pursuing coppers, the higher your score. Luckily, the police cars snaking behind you are pretty bad drivers. Slip through a tight gap between buildings, and you’ll probably lose a couple of your hapless pursuers. Dare to drive along the edge of a ravine and maybe they’ll skid right over the edge, into oblivion.

Trying to shake off the fuzz with these risky manoeuvres while also not smashing up your own ride is the careful balance you must strike in PAKO 2. And it makes for a thrilling ride – if we kept banging on about PAKO the first time around, then we’ll probably never shut up about this.
