Key Features of 29 Card Game

It is played with J, 9, A, 10, K, Q, 8, 7 from each suit. Hence there are 32 cards in the game.
The points of each card are: J (3 points), 9 (2), A (1), 10 (1) and K, Q, 8, 7 have 0 points each.
There are 3+2+1+1 = 7 points in each suit, hence a total of 7 x 4 = 28 points. There is an optional additional point for winning the last hand, taking the total to 29.

The game is played by four players in two teams (alternate players form a team), with each player receiving a hand of 8 cards.

The aim of the game is to win rounds (or tricks) and score points, with the highest card in each round winning all four cards of that round. The objective is to win a set by reaching 6 red points (or pushing the opponents to 6 black points).

Fairly good, Needs major UX improvements

Suggested changes which are simple and obvious
1. For double and Single Hand, provide Skip option
2. Allow for non animated card movements, will make the game faster
3. Interchange Continue and New Set button positions. Allow for a double confirmation when New Set is pressed
4. Decrease or remove the size of the player icons and increase card size
5. The layout of the cards once play starts should be in a single line rather than spread in two
6. Bids have to be bigger in Fonts. Red is the least readable

Least worst of all 28/29 games on app store

The worst part is user’s partner. The algo for user’ partner is so bad that he/she will do everything one doesn’t in actual game (eg always trump a hand which user is about to win). That just kills it for me

The rules in 28/29 game actually vary and aren’t standardised. This games does not state the rules (eg about pair) clearly. There is no provision for flexibility or optionality in rules (eg no option to allow auto double at 20 or cancel the game if 1st player at the bidding stage has a pointless hand).

There is no provision to check your score while bidding or seeing the last hand (allowed normally in real world 28/29).

One big flaw is one can’t set the joker as trump. One reviewer has already mentioned that there is no point for last hand.

Another big lacuna is that game doesn’t allow the user to under-trump - something which is done in real world 28/29.

Lastly, enabling users to play in multiplayer mode will make it million times more fun. I would like nothing more than connecting with old school/college friends for online 28/29, as almost all of us are now in different cities.

Needs lot of improvement before it becomes a shadow of real world 28/29.

PS: Having chat option in multiplayer mode is a must.

Thanks for your detail feedback. We have release a new version with couple of bugs fixed. Now you can set Joker as trump and view the last hand.
Also please be noted that we are working around some new features like rule select.
Though we are sticking to not allowing under trump.
Multiplayer implementation is quiet time consuming but we have decided to implement the same, please expect multiplayer in another 1 year.

Annoying Fundamental Flaws

Just uninstalled the game. Let me tell you why.

3 rounds (cards) left in the game including the one that is being played. Opponents need one point to win. Trump cards are off with opponents. I have the ‘A’ and my partner has the ‘9’ of trump cards. The running round was initiated by me with a standing card. Obviously the round is going in our favour and the game is won if my ‘partner’ plays sensibly. However partner takes the round by trumping with the 9. The next round ‘partner’ leads with a weak card and that round is going to the opponents because they have a standing card, so I have to trump with my A. Now we are out of trumps and for the last round I don’t have a standing card so the round is taken by the ‘opponents’ with a Jack and we lose.

That is some annoyingly childish coding.

Hi, Thanks for your feedback. We do agree that the AI logic for the robot player can be improved. At the same time we are considering to launch multiplayer so that you can play with your friends and get rid of the bots.
