So I’ve been using the app for the last 5 years. I’ve been through it all. I’ve religiously written every single day for an entire year only to loose all of it when some glitch happened when Day One introduced it’s own sync. Nevertheless I stuck with it. I love writing on it. But it seems to be missing a few key evolutionary features. One that I miss the most is a Dark Mode. I’m sure there are a lot of people like me who write in the night. It’s the last thing I do before I go to bed. A dark more would be awesome. Also I use my iPad Pro to write a lot. It would be nice if I could just swipe away the elements on the left so that all I’m seeing is the typing window. It’s there on the Mac. Sadly missing on the iPad app. Hopefully they fix this. Especially considering Bear has all of these and more.

The app interface is great and you get used to the slightly overwhelming amount of things on it after a few days. Good shortcut integration but if I had a gripe with the app, it is that they really shove the premium version in your face at least once daily. I wish there was a way to just hide all that since I don’t really need any of the premium features, and for that kind of money every year it doesn’t feel close to worth it. I mean iv been getting 4 years of free update from the art app procreate, so don’t hard sell and mask it as a “support” for the devs.I guess I’m not a fan of the subscription modelEspecially when it comes to apps. Charge a one time fee and I’ll buy this!
One Star Away from a Five

While I love this app and have been using it for years, I still haven’t seen them implement basic things like multiple coloured text for greater visual appeal. Also the one thing I find sorely missing from this is the lack of a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly quick jot of bullet points as a separate journal in itself, that I would like to refer to it each day, thereby eliminating the need for other apps. I would also like to see unlimited alerts and reminders to these bullets for a complete all in one app. It would also be very useful to have and copy/pasted link to appear as a link to help differentiate regular text from links and dates. All of these above points are what I’m missing most and would like to be able to use only “one app to rule them all.”
