Description
Greenshot is a light-weight screenshot software tool with the following key features:
- Quickly create screenshots of a selected region, window or fullscreen.
- Easily annotate, highlight or obfuscate parts of the screenshot.
- Export the screenshot in various ways: save to file, copy to clipboard, attach to e-mail.
…and a lot more options simplyfying creation of and work with screenshots every day.
NOTE: As some guys didn't find out how to start working with Greenshot, here's how: On the top of your screen is a clock. Somewhere on the left of it, you find a small G-icon. Click it. You also find the default hotkeys in the menu.
NOTE FOR CATALINA AND ABOVE: MacOS Catalina introduced major security changes and now some function regarding the operating system (like file handling, camera and also screenshots) needs to be given permission by the user. Unfortunately you'll have to enable screenshots for Greenshot in the system preferences. Go to "Security & Privacy" -> "Privacy" -> "Screen recording" and enable Greenshot.
WARNING for long-time Greenshot users: Greenshot for Mac is NOT as feature-rich as you might expect when you were using it on the PC before. We are doing our very best, but it may take a few months until you find the feature you are missing.

Not happy with the app
Hi! in free window greenshot, you get options like invert image color in the editor but in mac i can't get that option. In fact in windows, you see whole host of editing options on your left-side of the editor , in mac options are so few...and i have paid 2 dollors for that , in windows its free!!!! can you pls tell people how they can edit like u can do in windows!!
Not at all like Windows App
Since this is a paid app, I had higher expectations. This app is not thing like the Windows App. It's really bare bones. I hope in the next update it gets the ability to —
1) Change the degree of pixiation
2) Open images in the editor
3) Capture last screenshot area [ Shift Print in Windows]
nowhere close to the Windows version
Since I had used Greenshot on Windows earlier and liked it, I purchased the Mac version. However, I am disappointed. For Mac, it is a watered down version. Some basic features are missing.
If would be very helpful if a few things are added to the Mac version:
1) allow a transparent background for rectangle/ellipse
2) ability to change the thickness of the line/rectangle/ellipse/arrow
3) highlighter tool
4) ability to change font/size of text
