HERE WeGo Maps & Navigation 4+

3D renders of multiple places of interest.

The place where this app is winning for me is how crisp and how detailed their maps are and they provide 3D renders of various infrastructure in India which Google Maps and Apple Maps have been lacking even after having presence in India for so long. The only part I felt a bit let down was updating the map data on a timely basis because many things shown on Here We Go maps does not really exist and seems like they didn’t update it in last 3 years or so to say. If they work on this then this app deserves a definite 5 star rating.

No longer works on old devices

I am changing my review from 5 star to 0 star because Here WeGo no longer works on my old iPad. It used to work fine without any major issues on an older version of the app, till I stopped receiving map updates. Even without latest map updates Here's offline maps were still really useful. But then I foolishly followed a Here guide to delete the maps and app, and re-install it to "fix" the issue of maps not updating. Now app store installs the same older version of Here weGo app but the app doesn't work at all. It neither loads maps in online mode nor allows to download maps to use offline. So an app that used to work fine (without updates) now no longer works at all.

Here support is also not interested in fixing this issue as they claim my problems are because of using an older version.

I fail to understand what major architectural changes in the app made them drop support for older versions that could have been just kept in maintenance mode as it worked perfectly fine in my old but otherwise capable device.

This is just playing into 🍎's business strategy of introducing planned obsolescence where in they don't release ios updates for old devices and app developers kowtow to their wishes of unecessarily dropping support for older devices to force users to buy new devices and dump their old devices as e-waste (did not expect a European company to support this and not be more eco conscious to such blatant anti-customer practices).

We understand the frustration with losing the old version, but the update to 4.x was necessary for future-proofing. The old version was harder to maintain, lacked security updates, and wasn’t optimized for modern devices. While some features changed, WeGo is reintroducing key ones based on feedback. If you miss something specific, let us know.

Always loving this app “but”

Hey guys...love your app. Every since you guys launched it! Recently I noticed I’m not getting the English “normal” male or female voices, just robotic voices which I dislike a lot! Also please add detour option as well, eg: if I’m going somewhere and I need to pick up someone or go to the rest room or fuel up, I can use this function for adding route. Another option would be off-road tracking, if I go through a road off-road the app should ask is this a new road or off road, and I will select which is right and then the app will save it and delivery this info online to other users. Thanks.
