Over millennia, Samskrit has been the principal vehicle of the knowledge traditions and practices of Bharat, or India. This continuum of the language not only helped create innumerable branches of knowledge, but also resulted in an unmatched corpus of classical texts in every conceivable domain of human endeavor, thus laying the very foundations for the development and spectacular rise of the Bharatiya civilization.
However, in the last century Indian learners were denied opportunity to study Samskrit. The language of science and medicine (Ayurveda & Yoga) has been Samskrit.
