MAUSAM is a Mobile App of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India to provide seamless and user- friendly access to weather products available on https://mausam.imd.gov.in/. Users can access observed weather, forecasts, radar images and be proactively warned of impending weather events. The app’s development and deployment is being led jointly by ICRISAT’s Digital Agriculture & Youth (DAY) team and Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) under the Monsoon Mission program of MoES.

Great Predictions but Needs UI Improvements and Speed Optimization

I personally felt a bit confused while logging into the Mausam app. I was expecting to receive an OTP on my mobile, but there was no prompt or clear message indicating that the OTP was being sent to my email instead. This caused confusion.While the app does provide fairly accurate weather predictions, I found that many of the options/features are not working properly and take too long to load. The user experience could be significantly improved with better guidance during login and faster data fetching.I hope future updates address these issues because the core functionality seems promising.

So Bangalore is a super rainy place at times, the rains can be patchy at times, it might be raining in one main road and it might be totally dry barely a km away. I like that this app rightly gives an estimate about the rain timings and intensity. It is sort of right, moreover it’s a nice app from government agencies which are known for their poor sense of design but at the same time, it does the job it’s supposed to do.

Boat without a Mast.
I have newly installed app on my device . Like how government is investing in app development. I would love to see a widget for this app , a simple new looking widget ui with nice icons tells about weather update realtime , widget goes warning with warning icon and reminder to leave early from office incase if rain is about to start with in a hour.

Can you make the app so that it works with the location settings off. Why is it compulsory to switch on location for the app to work? Also u can add an alert option for weather warnings.
